Amazing Spider-Man/Venom: Death Spiral is a 2026 comic book storyline published by Marvel Comics. It was created by Joe Kelly and Al Ewing. The plot involves Spider-Man, Mary Jane Watson / Venom, and Eddie Brock / Carnage having to contend with a mysterious serial killer named Torment and the mysterious deaths he causes.

Production

Joe Kelly and Al Ewing announced the Amazing Spider-Man/Venom: Death Spiral storyline in January 2026, a crossover between The Amazing Spider-Man Volume 7, Venom Volume 6, and the recently-ended Eddie Brock: Carnage. Death Spiral involves Spider-Man, Venom, and Carnage contending with a mysterious serial killer called Torment.[1][2]

Plot

Various news reports talk about the mysterious deaths of various people with the last names of Parker, Watson, and Brock, with two stories covered by the Daily Bugle. Most of them have the last name of Parker, Reilly, or Brock. Meanwhile, Peter Parker checks in with Human Torch, who is babysitting Symbie, Raelith, and Glitch. Peter meets up with Astrid, whose co-worker Brian Herring is recuperating in the hospital from a floral accident. Spider-Man continues to avoid the messages of those who know him. Meanwhile, Eddie Brock works to keep the Carnage symbiote under control. Brock and Carnage go looking for someone named Torment. In Central Park, Mary Jane Watson and Flash Thompson talk about Madame Masque's activity with Advanced Idea Mechanics when Mary Jane gets a call from Paul Rabin about Brock, causing her to leave and transform into Venom. As Brock sleeps, the Carnage symbiote unlocks his phone and sees a text from Torment. Torment plans to go after Mary Jane.[3]

When visiting Aunt May and an old man named Ricardo, Peter learns that his aunt Brenda has died. Venom confronts Lady Octopus and Shocker about Tombstone's activities as Spider-Man arrives. After Spider-Man mistakes her for Eddie Brock, Mary Jane reveals her identity as Venom to him. After returning home, Shocker is attacked by Torment, who reveals that his mother Marianne Sinek had a sister who married into Mary Jane Watson's family. Torment cuts off Shocker's left arm when trying to take his gauntlets. Meanwhile, Peter and Mary Jane explain their recent exploits to each other, with Mary Jane explaining how she bonded to Venom and Peter explaining his time in outer space. Peter reveals that Carnage knows his secret identity and is coming after him and his loved ones. The police arrive at Shocker's apartment to find him dead and a message on the wall stating "Carnage Ruled".[4][5]

Spider-Man and Venom go to the Bar with No Name and visits Boomerang, who agrees to spread the news of Shocker's death and any information on the whereabouts of his killer. Spider-Man and Venom are called to meet with Tombstone, who is accompanied by Lady Octopus. Tombstone intends to kill Carnage, blaming him for Shocker's murder and the theft of his Vibro-Gauntlets. Meanwhile, at the New York Public Library, Eddie Brock is undercover doing research when he learns about the murder of his uncle Mike and several other relatives. Eddie believes that his father Carl Brock is Torment's next target and attempts to save him, but is ambushed by Venom. By the time Eddie escapes and arrives at Carl's home, Torment has already killed him. In addition, Torment has taken Shocker's Vibro-Gauntlets for his use.[6]

Eddie confronts Torment, who dodges his attacks and attacks him with Shocker's Vibro-Gauntlets. Back in Manhattan, Spider-Man recovers as he and Venom continue to go after Carnage. Meanwhile at McCarthy Medical, Brian Nehring is being treated for the bio-mass he inhaled.[a] By the time Spider-Man and Venom arrive at Eddie's house, they find Carl Brock dead. Spider-Man and Venom catch up to Torment, but are trapped by Carnage, who reveals that Eddie is unconscious within it.[7]
