Ajay Shankar Prasanna[2] (born 1979) is an Indian classical flautist associated with the Hindustani bansuri tradition. He is known for performing Indian classical music internationally and has been featured in concerts, festival programs, and broadcast recordings. He belongs to a musical family of the Banaras/Varanasi Gharana of flute players.[1]
Early life and training
Ajay Prasanna was born into a family deeply engaged with Indian classical music. His father, Pandit Bholanath Prasanna, was a noted bansuri player of the Banaras Gharana and a teacher to several prominent flautists.[3]
Prasanna began learning the flute at a very young age under the guidance of his father,[4] observing and absorbing the traditional techniques of Hindustani music. He performed his first public concert at the age of six during the Akhil Bharatiya Sangeet Sammelan.[1]
