Agioi Anargyroi (Greek Name: Αγίων Αναργύρων), also known as Agii Anargiri, is a village in Laconia, Greece in the province of Lakedaimon.[1] The village is in an area associated with Sparta. Its elevation is at 320 m (1,050 ft).[2]

History

Agioi Anargyroi and a neighboring village, Goritsa, were formed by a migration into the Lakonia Plains of the Tsintzinians. The Tsintzinians, were from a settlement, Tsintzina, in the Parnon foothills. [3] Originally called Zoupena (Ζούπενα) or Zoupainia (Ζούπαινα), it was renamed from Zoupena to Agioi Anargyroi on September 20th, 1955.[1]The name change was a result of a movement across Greece change back to names that reflected Greek heritage and Greek Orthodox identity.
