Ademola Adenle

Ademola A. Adenle is a Nigerian scholar specializing in sustainability science, agricultural innovation, and science and technology policy.

Early life and education

Adenle holds a PhD in Genetics and Molecular Toxicology from the University of Nottingham, an MSc in Genetic Manipulation from the University of Sussex, and a Master of Public Policy from the University of Oxford.[1]

Career

Adenle has held academic positions including Guest Professor of Sustainability Science and Innovation Policy at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) and affiliations with the United Nations University and Colorado State University.[2][3]

He has authored over 70 peer-reviewed publications on topics such as climate change, food security, energy policy, and sustainable development, appearing in journals including Nature Biotechnology, Energy Policy, and Food Policy.[1][2]

In Nigeria, Adenle has served as Senior Special Adviser on Agricultural Innovation to the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security.[4]

Awards and recognition

In 2025, Adenle became the inaugural recipient of the World Academy of Sciences–M.S. Swaminathan Award for Food and Peace, established by TWAS in honor of Indian agronomist M. S. Swaminathan. The award recognizes contributions to sustainable agriculture, food security, and peace-building.[4][5]

Following the award, Adenle was received by President Bola Tinubu at the State House and honored by Nigeria's National Orientation Agency.[6]
