Abdulla Kurbanov (Russian: Абдулла Нурмагомедович Курбанов; born 7 February 2002) is a Russian freestyle wrestler. He is a three-time Russian national champion and won bronze medals at the 2024 U23 World Wrestling Championships and the 2024 European U23 Wrestling Championships.[1][2]

Career

In December 2018, Kurbanov moved to Khasavyurt to train under Honored Coach of Russia Alibek Gadzhimagomedov.[3] On 25 February 2021, he was awarded the title of Master of Sport of Russia.[4]

In 2022, he won the Russian U21 championships in Kaspiysk and the Russian U23 championships in Khanty-Mansiysk. He also won the freestyle title at the 2022 All-Russian Summer Universiade in Grozny.[5][6][7]

In 2023, Kurbanov won bronze at the Ali Aliyev Memorial in Kaspiysk before winning the gold medal at the 2023 Russian National Freestyle Wrestling Championships, where he defeated Erik Dzhioev in the final.[8][9]

In 2024, he won bronze medals at both the 2024 European U23 Wrestling Championships in Baku and the 2024 U23 World Wrestling Championships in Tirana. He also won the gold medal at the 2024 Russian National Freestyle Wrestling Championships.[10][11][12]

In 2025, he won his third Russian national title in the heavyweight division.[13]

Personal life

Kurbanov was born in the village of Novye Vikri in the Kayakentsky District of Dagestan, Russia.[14][15] He is a student at the Kuban State University of Physical Culture, Sport and Tourism.[16]
