- 1 January – Police arrest two people suspected of damaging a submarine telecommunications cable in the Gulf of Finland that runs between Finland and Estonia.[1][2]

- 6 March – Finland boycotts the opening ceremony of the 2026 Winter Paralympics in Italy in protest over Russian athletes being allowed to compete under the Russian flag after the lifting of sanctions imposed over the Russian invasion of Ukraine in 2022.[3]
