On 4 February 2026, a 14-year-old eighth-grade student set a fire at School No. 153 (Krasnoyarsk) in the city of Krasnoyarsk, Russia, injuring several classmates and a teacher. According to regional authorities, five people were reported injured and treated by medical services. No fatalities were reported.
The suspect was detained by police, and the Investigative Committee of Russia opened a criminal case following the incident.
Attack
On the morning of 4 February 2026, a 14-year-old eighth-grade student at School No. 153 (Krasnoyarsk) carried flammable materials into the building and started a fire in the school.[1] Students and teachers evacuated affected areas. Regional authorities stated that the student injured several classmates and a teacher with a hammer and fire during the incident.[2]
Police officers arrived at the school and detained the suspect shortly after the incident began.[3]
Aftermath
Following the attack, medical teams transported four students and one teacher to healthcare facilities for evaluation and treatment.[2] No fatalities were reported.
The Investigative Committee of Russia opened a criminal case and began examining possible motives and circumstances behind the attack.[3] Local officials announced that school safety procedures would be reviewed, and additional checks were initiated in other educational institutions in the Krasnoyarsk region.[2]
