The 2026 FC Barcelona presidential election took place on 15 March 2026 for electing the President of the club. Incumbent president Joan Laporta won the re-election for the second consecutive and third overall term in office, defeating Victor Font. This was the first time since 1997 the incumbent president was re-elected.
Electoral calendar
The electoral calendar was the following:[1]
- 9 February: publication of the official call for elections.
- 10 February: public draw to select the members of the Electoral Board and the Electoral Committee.
- 13 or 14 February: formal constitution of the Electoral Board and the Electoral Committee.
- From 15 February: endorsement slips may be requested.
- 15–19 February: publication of the electoral roll.
- Between 20 and 22 February: resolution of claims and approval of the final electoral roll.
- 23 February to 2 March: submission of proposed candidacies.
- Between 3 and 5 March: counting of endorsements and announcement of candidates who obtain support from at least 50% of the members of the Assembly.
- 6–13 March: election campaign.
- 14 March: reflection day.
- 15 March: voting day.
Candidates
6 pre candidates ran for the presidency. These include incumbent president Joan Laporta, Catalan fintech entrepreneur and 2021 candidate Víctor Font, former club executive and head of La Masia Xavi Vilajoana, local businessman Marc Ciria, Daniel Juan and William Maddock.[2][3] In order to advance to the main election the candidates had to collect a minimum of 2,337 signatures from club members. Candidates who collected a minimum number of signatures are Laporta, Font, and Ciria. However, only Laporta and Font were allowed to run for president, as only 2,247 of Ciria's 2,845 signatures were validated after the recount.

Official Club Statement
"Now that the FC Barcelona presidential election process has concluded, with Mr. Joan Laporta i Estruch declared as the winner, the Club informs that a transitional period is now in force until 30 June 2026."
"During said period, the current Board, chaired by Mr. Rafael Yuste i Abel, with Mr. Josep Cubells i Ribé as vice-president, will continue to exercise their governance operations in full."
"In this respect, the current Board shall have sole authority for institutional representation before any bodies, institutions and third parties, as well as for any Club obligations, including the signing of documents and contracts, as well as for any decision-making and adoption of resolutions."
"Club governance body meetings shall be the exclusive domain of the current Board, notwithstanding and when considered appropriate, members of the incoming board can be invited or requested for their opinion on specific issues, without this being binding in any case."
"The incoming Board members can choose to attend Club sports and institutional events as guests, in accordance with the provisions set out by the Protocol Department. Likewise, they can attend events organised by third parties under the terms set out by the Club. Under no circumstances shall they represent the institution formally nor act on behalf of FC Barcelona without a member of the current Board of Directors being present."
"Furthermore, any public communication or address to the media regarding the Club is recommended and considered convenient to be channelled though the official bodies and channels, coordinated by the Communication Department."
"With the aim of strengthening institutional activities and ensuring this transitional period goes smoothly, Mr. Josep Cubells i Ribé will take on a more in-depth institutional role, in coordination with the president, Mr. Rafael Yuste i Abel."
"Furthermore, and until the new Board of Directors assume control, which is scheduled for 1 July 2026, Mr. Francesc Pujol i Sabaté will be responsible for the basketball team; Mr. Joan Solé i Sust will coordinate the sports teams at the Club, apart from women's football who will be under Mr. Ángel Riudalbas i Codina, as well as being responsible for the financial area. Responsibility for the Social Area and matters regarding members will remain with Mr. Josep-Ignasi Macià i Gou. Lastly, Mr. Alfons Castro i Sousa will take on the role of treasurer, assuming responsibility for financial management and budgetary control for the Club over the coming months."
"FC Barcelona reaffirms its commitment to institutional solidity, to respecting the governing bodies, and to the Club operating correctly during this transitional period."
