General elections are scheduled to be held in Ethiopia on 1 June 2026.[1]
Background
The election is the first six round election to spontaneously change its term length in federal Ethiopia. The previous elections have been held in five rounds since 1995.[2][3]
The National Election Board published an updated list of electoral constituencies on January 30, 2026.[4][5]
Electoral system
The members of the House of Peoples' Representatives (the lower chamber of parliament) are elected in single-member constituencies using the first-past-the-post system.
