The 2025 Rice Owls football team represented Rice University as a member of the American Conference during the 2025 NCAA Division I FBS football season. Led by first-year Scott Abell, the Owls played home games at Rice Stadium in Houston.
Rice completed their regular season with a 5–7 record.[1] The Owls were not bowl eligible, but received a bid to the Armed Forces Bowl due to some bowl-eligible teams (such as Iowa State and Kansas State) declining bids.[2]
The Rice Owls drew an average home attendance of 23,423, the 92nd-highest of all NCAA Division I FBS football teams.[3]
Schedule
The American Athletic Conference (subsequently renamed as the American Conference) announced the 2025 football conference opponents for the Owls on August 15, 2024.[4][5]
