EPA (Elite Pro Academy) Super League U20, formerly known as EPA Liga 1 U20, is an Indonesian youth football league system for the under-20 age group, managed by I-League (Indonesia).[1] The 2025–26 season is the fourth season since the competition was introduced in early 2019 by the PSSI.[2]
The EPA Super League U20 was rebranded starting this season following the rebranding of the Super League competition.[3] Participants in this competition consist of the U20 teams from all clubs competing in the top-flight Super League.
Persita U20s were the defending champions after defeating Dewa United U20s 4–3 in the penalty shootout after a goalless draw in the final match of the previous season.
Competition format
The 2025–26 EPA Super League U20 season is conducted in two stages: the preliminary group stage and the final.[4] In the preliminary stage, teams are divided into two groups and play a quadruple round-robin system on a home-and-away basis. Under this format, each club faces every other club in their respective group four times, according to the schedule set by I-League.[4]
Matches are scheduled to take place twice a week, typically on Saturdays and Sundays, though they are counted as two separate matchweeks (a "double-header" format). This system is also applied to the U18 and U16 age categories.[5]
The clubs finishing in first place in each group at the end of the preliminary stage qualify for the final. The final is contested by two clubs in a single-match format at a stadium designated by I-League. Home-team status for the final is determined by points, goal difference, goals scored, and fair play records.[4]
EPA Super League U20 matches last 90 minutes, divided into two 45-minute halves with a 15-minute half-time interval. In the final, if the match ends in a draw after normal time, it proceeds to 30 minutes of extra time (2x15 minutes). If the score remains level, the winner is determined by a penalty shoot-out in accordance with the Laws of the Game.[4]
Player regulations
In the EPA Super League U20, each club must register a minimum of 18 players and a maximum of 35 players, including at least 3 goalkeepers. All registered players must hold Indonesian citizenship (WNI).
Additionally, there are specific requirements regarding the age composition of the squad:[4]
- Players must generally be born between 1 January 2006 and 31 December 2011.
- Clubs are required to register at least six players born in 2007 within the 35-player quota.
- Clubs may register a maximum of five overage players born between 2004 and 2005 within the 35-player quota.
