The 1983 season was inaugural season for the Chicago Blitz in the United States Football League, and under head coach George Allen. The team finished with a 12–6 record.[1]

Background

The Blitz finished in a tie for the Central Division title with the Michigan Panthers. However, the Panthers were awarded the division title after sweeping the Blitz in the regular season, and would go on to become the league's first champions. In the playoffs, the Blitz blew a 21-point lead over the Philadelphia Stars, losing 44–38 in overtime.
