The 1974 World Series of Poker (WSOP) was a series of poker tournaments held from May 6 to 11, 1974, at Binion's Horseshoe.[1]

Events

There were five preliminary events in the 1974 World Series of Poker.[2] Jimmy Casella became the first player in WSOP history to win the first two events of a single World Series.

The 1974 World Series of poker saw total entries cross 100 for the first time as the tournament continued to grow.[3]

Main Event

There were 16 entrants to the $10,000 buy-in winner-take-all Main Event.[4] Johnny Moss became the first player in WSOP history to win the Main Event three times, a feat only matched by Stu Ungar in the 1980, 1981, and 1997 Main Events.[5][6] Moss's third Main Event title was a result of a four-hour heads-up duel with Crandell Addington.[7]
