The 1795 Delaware gubernatorial election was held on October 6, 1795.[1] The Federalist former councilor Gunning Bedford Sr. defeated the Democratic-Republican senator from New Castle County Archibald Alexander.[2]
The election was seen as a referendum on the Jay Treaty, which the Democratic-Republicans opposed.[3] Alexander was listed as the "Anti-Treaty" candidate in the Aurora General Advertiser.[4]
